They are surrounded by a veil, reinforcing the sense of union dictated by the embrace of the central figure
Note the presence of a column, a sort of altar, on which a garland is placed, placed for reasons of static nature which acts as a support base. As in Canova's other works, the sinuosity of the female forms, the delicacy and softness as well as the refined smoothness of the marble determine a play of light and shadow that harks back to the sculptor's Venetian artistic training
